About
What’s in it for you?
Often our choices become, as my friend Doug Krug says, “invisible through familiarity.” We may have made the same choices so habitually that we don’t see other available options.
From the stories we tell, to the questions we ask, to the intention that we bring to situations, to where we place our focus and attention, each choice is ours to make and has an impact.
This blog helps you explore the small and large choices available to live a more empowered life.
You may enjoy this blog if you:
- Care deeply
- Want to make a positive contribution
- Have a tendency to diminish the impact you can make in your own life and the lives of others
- Can feel easily overwhelmed by the world
- Are smart and creative and sometimes don’t give yourself credit for your gifts
About Carol Dovi O’Dwyer
I am in what is euphemistically called the third age of life. That’s simply another way of saying that I’ve been around for a while. I’ve worked as a communications skills trainer, community organizer, organizational development consultant and writer.
Since my 20’s, when I overcame suicidal depression and chose to live my life differently, I have prioritized my personal growth.
Here are a few fun facts about me
- Late bloomer (Crown published my anthology Gifts from Our Grandmothers when I was 40.)
- Lifelong learner (I’m currently diligently studying Spanish)
- Movement teacher
- Lover of dancing under the stars
- Convener of groups of growth seekers
- Empath
- Reframe queen
Why am I writing a blog about choices? I know that I teach what I most need to learn. I gravitated toward teaching how to have difficult conversations not because I’d mastered the skill, but because I wanted to do it better. A writing teacher once said that we don’t write about what we know, we write to discover what we know. I’m curious about what I’ll learn by writing about the power of choices and engaging with readers who share their experiences.
